A Brief Introduction to Gate Valves

Gate Valve
A gate valve controls the on/off of a pipeline by means of a vertically lifting gate. When the gate rises, fluid flows through the passage between the gate and the seat; when the gate lowers and presses tightly against the seat, the passage closes to stop fluid flow.

Features
1. The flow passage is fully unobstructed when fully open, with very low flow resistance, making it suitable for large-flow delivery.
2. It opens and closes slowly and is not suitable for flow regulation, otherwise the gate is prone to erosion damage.
3. It has relatively good sealing performance, but the sealing surfaces are prone to wear if kept in a half-open state for a long time.

Applications
Mainly used in main water supply/return pipelines of plumbing and air conditioning systems, or large-diameter pipelines requiring complete on/off control and low flow resistance, such as inlet and outlet pipelines of chillers and boilers.
