Butterfly valves are suitable for high-flow media containing a small amount of particles or fibers, while ball valves are suitable for clean and high-viscosity fluids. The difference in their adaptability stems from their structural designs.
Fluid Medium Adaptability of Butterfly Valves
Primarily used in high-flow gas scenarios, offering excellent flow characteristics in large-diameter pipelines. Suitable for systems such as ventilation, air conditioning ducts, and gas transmission pipelines.
Tolerant of media with a small amount of particles or fibers. The channel is large when the valve plate is open, making it less prone to clogging. Commonly used in sludge transmission pipelines of sewage treatment plants.
Fluid Medium Adaptability of Ball Valves
Suitable for clean fluids, including purified water, steam, and compressed air. The sealing surface between the ball and the valve seat is relatively narrow, requiring clean media to avoid scratching the sealing surface.
Suitable for viscous fluids. It has strong medium shut-off capability and reliable sealing when closed. Applicable to heavy oil transmission in chemical production and viscous material transmission such as sauces and syrups in food processing.
