Working Principle of High-Pressure Ball Valves



A high-pressure ball valve operates with a 90-degree rotation. Its plug is a spherical body featuring a circular through-hole or passage that runs through its axis. Primarily used to shut off, distribute, and redirect the flow of media in pipelines, the ball valve can achieve a tight seal with just a 90-degree rotation. While ball valves are highly suitable for use as on-off valves and stop valves, recent developments have led to the design of ball valves for flow restriction and control, such as V-port ball valves.
The key characteristics of high-pressure ball valves include a compact structure, reliable sealing, simple design, and the fact that the sealing surface remains in contact with the spherical surface (maintaining a closed state when required), making them less prone to erosion by the medium. They are applicable to common media like water, solvents, acids, and natural gas, as well as media under harsh working conditions such as oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane, and ethylene. High-pressure ball valves find application across various industries. Their valve bodies can be of an integral type or a combined type.
